The Victorian Dual Disability Service (VDDS) is a statewide initiative dedicated to improving the mental health of Victorians aged 16 and over with developmental disorders (intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorders), who are experiencing mental health issues. Our service provides clinical advice and training for health professionals working in the public system (Victorian Area Mental Health Services).
We provide comprehensive assessment, diagnostic opinion, reviews and consultation on treatment and management for consumers of publicly funded mental health services in Victoria who have a developmental disability.
The VDDS is able to provide training to mental health teams on a variety of topics relevant to dual disability topics specific to your service. These sessions can occur face-to-face or online depending
on your team’s preference.
The VDDS offers a series of recorded webinars on mental health issues affecting people with an intellectual disability or autism spectrum disorder. These training webinars are designed for mental health and disability professionals; however, are open to all. Some prior knowledge may be helpful.
We welcome contact from everyone and endeavour to offer helpful advice.
However, we can only see consumers for an assessment if they registered with, or require, a public Area Mental Health Service, or are linked to a funded Disability Service.
While we would love to help you in your time of need. Please note that we are not an emergency service. If you require urgent Mental Health assistance, please contact your Local Mental Health Service.
If you require urgent Medical assistance, please call 000.
